Can Vitamin CoQ10 Boost Fertility in Older Women?

Can a vitamin slow menopause and make it easier for 40-something women to have babies?

Canadian scientists are conducting further research to answer that question after experiments showed co-enzyme Q10 helped older mice produce eggs that were healthier and greater in number, a story posted on Canada.com reports.

Experts plan to test the supplement on women who are 35 and older and receiving fertility treatments.

The work is key because older women often have difficulty getting pregnant and are at greater risk of bearing children with chromosomal abnormalities that cause such conditions as Down syndrome. The work also is significant because in some countries more women are trying to have children later in life.
