Seven million people in the United States have undiagnosed diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. You could be one of them. Most people are not diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes until they have experienced its complications. Usually, symptoms develop gradually, so listen to your body.

With diabetes, sugar levels build up in the blood because the body is unable to correctly convert the glucose to energy. That build-up can cause serious complications affecting most parts of the body and can lead to heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke.

Do you know the symptoms of diabetes?

restroom, breaks, diabetes, symptom, thirst

Frequent restroom breaks

Are you urinating frequently? Always thirsty? These are two common symptoms of diabetes, according to MayoClinic.com. Diabetes causes excess sugar to build in your blood making your kidneys work harder to filter the extra glucose. The excess is excreted into your urine when your kidneys can’t keep pace, which results in frequent urination. This can make you dehydrated and when you consume more liquid, you need to use the bathroom even more.

The increased urination can make you dehydrated, which, in turn, makes you feel extremely tired and fatigued.
