10 Natural Ways to Soothe Sunburn

Summer is here with long, sunny days. But sometimes despite your best efforts, you can get too much sun and end up with a painful sunburn.

Sunscreen isn't foolproof, says Ara DerMarderosian, Ph.D., a specialist in alternative medicine at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He suggests the following natural products to help ease the pain:

1. Aloe

When you buy gel or lotion with aloe, check that the only, or main, ingredient is actually aloe. Other substances in the product could irritate a sunburn. Apply the aloe-based lotion or gel every hour until pain diminishes. Use on other areas of the skin that might be dry or irritated.
