Question: Is there a veggie capsule that will detox the liver and bowel as well as provide probiotics and improve digestion?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

I prefer you supplement with food sources than rely on supplements. Food products contain vitamins, minerals, and co-factors that work better than trying to use supplements.

There is no evidence that daily probiotic use is more than a waste of money, except perhaps when recommended as a part of a short-term supplement plan recommended by your doctor, such as after a gastro illness. The same advice applies to calcium supplementation: Food sources are far more effective, though there are times when select supplementation may be recommended by your doctor to supplement your diet, not to replace it.
