Question: Is there a treatment/medication for peripheral neuropathy? I have been diagnosed with this ailment but I can’t find relief from the discomfort?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Are you a diabetic? If so, you need to keep your blood sugar levels as close to normal as possible, with medication if necessary. There are many different types of treatments for peripheral neuropathy. Mild symptoms may be relieved by over-the-counter pain medications. For more-severe symptoms, your doctor may recommend prescription painkillers, or antiseizure medications that are known to be beneficial in nerve pain.
