Question: I am a 52-year-old woman on the verge of menopause, but, otherwise, I'm in excellent health. For the last 12 to 18 months, I have had problems with short-term memory loss and poor balance. Are these problems related to hormone fluctuations or should I look for something else?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

Short-term memory loss and poor balance are not symptoms usually associated with perimenopausal hormonal changes. I recommend you seek professional evaluation from your personal medical doctor without delay. These symptoms are not to be ignored.

Always listen to your body, and seek advice from a professional for these types of symptoms before using any over-the-counter self-treatment remedies.
