Question: I have a problem with hair falling out, I’m tired all the time, and I can't lose weight. I asked my doctor about my thyroid. He said it wasn’t a thyroid problem, and that I should just stop tying my hair with rubber bands. I still think it’s a thyroid problem. What do you think?

If your doctor says that the cause of your hair loss is due to your thyroid, it's probably because your thyroid test was normal. How old are you?

Hair loss can be due to many causes such a family history of hair loss, dandruff, stress, hormonal changes (puberty, pregnancy, and menopause), and even poor dietary habits. Make sure you eat well-balanced, healthy meals that include vegetables and fruits, and include stress-relieving exercises as part of your regular routine.

Emphasize your concerns about your fatigue to your doctor. But be aware that hair loss due to tying the hair back with rubber bands is very common. You might want to try another hair style.
