Question: I have a problem with facial nerves, especially if I am a front of people. What do you suggest?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

Facial spasms obviously connected with stress are easily manageable. We have excellent anti-spasm and anxiety medications, and sometimes anticonvulsant medications may be useful when there are no nutritional deficiencies.

Episodic unpredictable spasms (facial tics) tend to be more difficult to control, yet they can often be modified effectively with professional consultation and management.

Have your doctor check your basic chemistry and metabolism. In selected cases MRI imaging and further investigation for demyelinating disorders, such as multiple sclerosis, may be recommended, and see a neurologist if your doctor recommends it.

Be sure your ionized calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium levels are checked, and review the supplements you take. Consider eliminating (on a trial basis) nonlife-sustaining supplements.
