Question: What are some ways to get rid of eczema which is on my scalp and face? I have tried everything — the doctor gave me prescriptions etc. Is there a natural remedy?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

Eczema is caused by a myriad of conditions, and is a general term used to describe inflammation of our skin.

It is important to correctly diagnose your eczema before running to random treatments. It would be prudent to consider a fungal scraping of your scalp knowing it has been resistant to prior treatments and perhaps even a small biopsy of one of your lesions if there is any doubt as to the diagnosis and its cause.

The eczema label is too general to recommend specific treatment. Have this properly evaluated and let me know your age and co-existing medical conditions, and I would be pleased to offer you options that are effective to control your condition. Let me know what you have used, and what the effect was. Effective diagnosis specific treatment is available for all eczema conditions that affect the face and scalp. If your doctor is unsure, request a referral to a dermatologist (dedicated skin specialist).
