Question: Could you address H. pylori infections? Is there an alternative to antibiotic treatment?

Dr. Brownstein's Answer:

H. pylori is a type of bacteria that causes chronic gastritis and gastric ulcers. It has also been linked to the formation of duodenal ulcers, which affect the uppermost section of the small intestine.

Studies have shown that the bacteria are found in over 50 percent of people, many of whom do not develop symptoms. Infection with H. pylori can present as stomach pains characterized by burning as well as nausea, belching, and bloating. Individuals infected with H. pylori have a 10 percent to 20 percent lifetime risk of developing ulcers in the stomach, and are at an increased risk of developing stomach cancer.

The conventional treatment for H. pylori includes a double or triple antibiotic regimen. It is a fairly effective therapy for eradicating the bacteria. However, this regimen can cause serious problems including dysbiosis of the bowel, a condition in which the microorganisms in the digestive tract become imbalanced.

I have found an herbal combination that is very effective for fighting H. pylori. This natural therapy includes using oregano oil and citricidal (made from grapefruit rinds). Take two capsules twice per day of oregano oil, two capsules twice per day of citricidal, and the same dose of the herb mastic. This, along with a probiotic, has proven to be effective for treating H. pylori.

The usual course of treatment is two weeks. I have successfully treated my mother and wife for this condition. I can assure you if this therapy did not work, I would have heard about it.
