Question: I am in the early stages of vitiligo. I am 44 years old, and this just began a couple of years ago. Is there anything I can do to reverse or stop its spread?

Dr. Brownstein’s Answer:

Vitiligo is a chronic skin disease that causes a loss of pigment, creating irregular pale patches of skin. It is not an easy problem to treat with either conventional or holistic medicine. However, there are a few holistic treatments that are effective. I have found that many vitiligo patients are B-vitamin deficient. It is important to ensure adequate amounts of the B vitamins, particularly vitamins B12 and B6. I suggest taking 25 to 50 milligrams (mg) of B6 per day and injecting 1 mg of methyl B12 twice per week for those who are deficient. Furthermore, PABA, a B-vitamin-like substance, can help those suffering with vitiligo. I have found 2,000 mg per day of PABA helps with vitiligo.

In addition, diagnosing and eliminating food allergies helps with vitiligo. Finally, eat a healthy diet free of refined foods and toxic chemicals. This also helps vitiligo.
