Question: Is there a supplement protocol for a 45-year-old man with grade 1 astrocytoma?
Dr. Blaylock's Answer:
Grade 1 astrocytoma is a very slow-growing primary brain tumor. Surgery can, in some cases, cause these tumors to become more aggressive. No one has published a natural protocol; however, several supplements have shown significant potential benefits.
Most impressive has been vitamin D-3 in a dose of 10,000 IU a day. This has even significantly slowed the course of the highly malignant glioblastoma tumor. Next is curcumin, which when mixed with extra-virgin olive oil is highly absorbed from the gut and enters the brain to inhibit tumor growth. The usual dose is 500 mg curcumin in a tablespoon of the oil, taken four times a day.
There are also impressive results with a ketogenic diet, which slows, and in some cases has stopped, the growth of even very malignant brain tumors. I suggest the book “Stop Alzheimer’s Now” by Bruce Fife, for a good ketogenic diet. More can be found in my book, “Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients.”
