Question: What is your opinion of olive leaf extract? It gets a lot of credit for relieving colds, flu, and even serious infections like MRSA.

Dr. Blaylock's Answer:

Olive leaf extract is a very interesting and amazing product. It has been examined in both animal studies and human studies. Many studies found it to inhibit virus replication, viral cell fusion, and special enzyme replication, needed by retroviruses to replicate. It has also been shown to have significant antifungal activity.

As for its antibacterial activity, it kills some bacteria and has little effect on others. A recent study found that it was very effective in killing H. pylori (associated with stomach ulcers and gastric lymphoma), Staph aureus and even methicillin resistant Staph (MERSA).

If that is not enough, animal studies and human studies found that it reduces blood pressure in borderline hypertension, It also is a very effective antidiabetic, being equal to some medications in strength. One very important property is that it reduces the damage and clinical effects of an experimental autoimmune disorder (called EAE), which means it may be beneficial against MS and rheumatoid arthritis.
