Question: Do you have any suggestions for chronic constipation?

Dr. Blaylock's Answer:

One of the best ways to correct chronic constipation is to increase your intake of magnesium. Most people find that as they increase their intake of magnesium their stool becomes softer. At 500 mg twice a day, few will have any problem with constipation.

It is also important to increase your soluble fiber, which can be done by blenderizing your vegetables. This provides not only soluble vegetable fiber but also insoluble fiber that adds bulk to the stool.

Studies have shown that only vegetable fiber reduces one’s risk of colon cancer. There is a relatively new product called TruFiber, which has a good taste and supplies vegetable fiber, inulin, and cellulase enzymes that help make the fiber soluble. This not only helps soften the stool, it also provides nourishment to the good bacteria in your colon and reduces you risk of colon cancer.

Finally, exercising, and drinking plenty of fluids reduce the risk of constipation.
