Question: How can I protect my children from ear infections?
Dr. Blaylock's Answer:
There are several things that can be done. The most simple thing to do is to eliminate all cow’s milk products — milk, cheese, etc. — from their diets. Cow’s milk is strongly related to recurrent ear infections.
Other food allergies are also linked to recurrent ear infections, and testing for food allergies may be necessary. Equally important is to give them higher doses of vitamin D-3.
A friend of mine had small children who experienced repeated ear infections every year. This meant many trips to the pediatrician as well as the children taking dangerous antibiotics. After giving vitamin D-3 in a daily dose of 1,000 IU to the children under 1 year of age, and 2,000 IU to the older children, their ear infections disappeared. This treatment is supported by medical literature.
Because antibiotics used for ear infections kill the beneficial bacteria in the bowel, children could benefit from probiotics twice a day during treatment, and then once a week after they are off the antibiotics.
