Question: My daughter has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of her HER2 test result, she is being told that she needs a mastectomy then chemotherapy and a drug called Herceptin. Does she really need such long and harsh treatment?

Dr. Blaylock's Answer:

The HER2/neu is an oncogene; that is, a tumor gene that makes breast cancers more aggressive and gives patients a poorer prognosis overall. This gene causes the tumor to secrete a growth factor and an enzyme called metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9).

These factors make breast cancers grow faster and become more likely to spread (metastasize), even when the tumor that was removed was small and appears to be totally removed.

The drug Herceptin was designed to inhibit HER2/neu and reduce the risk of metastasis. Results have shown that it is less effective than first thought, and has a high complication rate.

The good news is that three natural product have shown significant ability to suppress not only HER2/neu, but also MMP-9.

These include green tea extract (ECGC), quercetin, and resveratrol — all of which are available without a prescription. Combining the three is even more effective.

Curcumin has been shown to powerfully inhibit MMP-9, and thus reduce breast cancer spread. I have used these extracts in patients with extensive breast cancer metastasis with incredible results.

A cancer researcher who is a friend of mine has a wife who was diagnosed with widely metastatic breast cancer. She was given three months to live, but with high-dose curcumin she is alive and well 10 years later.

The effectiveness of these compounds is backed up by a great deal of research. The beauty is that unlike Herceptin, they have very few complications and most are quite mild.

For more information regarding alternatives, you might want to get a copy of my book, “Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients.”
