It is certainly safer than meat from animals raised in unsanitary, crowded conditions and fed contaminated grains. Grass feeding has many advantages, including adding omega-3 and conjugated alpha-linoleic acid to the animal’s flesh.

Preventing Ear Infections in Infants

In my research, vitamin D3 has been shown to be an effective treatment for ear infections. I would advise 1,000 IU to 2,000 IU a day.

Curcumin and Healing

The growing of new blood vessels, called neovascularization, is essential for wound healing. Ironically, even though curcumin inhibits this process, several studies have shown that it is actually a potent aid in the healing of surgical wounds.

Beta-Glucan Supplements and Omega-3s

Beta-glucan supplements and omega-3s have two separate modes of action and are not related. Beta-glucan is an immune stimulant that selectively activates cellular immunity, the arm of the immune system that kills viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Adding Magnesium to Water

I recommend adding magnesium citrate/malate, which I remove from the capsule, to water. You can use magnesium citrate as well. I use a fourth of a capsule to each gallon of water.

Synthetic and Natural CLA

The scientific literature demonstrates both good and bad effects of CLA supplementation. High doses decrease brain and heart DHA levels, which is harmful.

Chronic Allergies

There are a number of supplements and nutraceuticals that can reduce allergic reactions. Most important are quercetin, curcumin, vitamin D3, omega-3 oils (especially DHA), vitamin C and magnesium.

Iodine and Fibrocystic Breast Disease

There is some evidence that iodine can reduce fibrocystic breast disease, but no carefully controlled studies. Since clinicians all over the world are independently reporting a positive effect and we know that since iodine is utilized by breast tissue, it is certainly plausible.

Benign Essential Tremor

Benign essential tremor is a growing problem in this country. In the past, it was indeed considered benign, but newer studies are suggesting that it can lead to more serious neurodegeneration over time—such as Parkinson’s disease.

Seborrheic Dermatitis

Many cases of seborrheic dermatitis respond positively to higher doses of B vitamins. Also, avoiding foods high in sugar will help most cases.

Supplements for Chronic Hives

You should first look for the source of the problem. One cause physicians often overlook or intolerances. Eliminating the offending foods may cure the problem.

Eliminating Gall Stones Naturally

Gallstones can be caused by certain bacteria in the gall bladder or bilary ducts within the liver. They act as a point of accumulation for cholesterol or calcium-carbonate crystals. A majority of such stones are composed of cholesterol, yet trials of cholesterol-lowering statins were shown to be ineffective. Improving bile flow, however, will help prevent stagnation within the gallbladder.

Treating Restless Leg Syndrome

My review of this disorder finds a number of contributing factors, such as a deficiency of calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It is considered to be a deficiency of a brain neurotransmitter called dopamine. Some have considered it an early sign of Parkinson's syndrome risk, or a dopamine deficiency disease.

Relieving the Pain of Sciatica

Sciatica is caused by several things, the most common being viral infections, compression by ligamentous bands in the buttocks, and of course the most common — ruptured disc. Studies have shown that in all these instances, the cause of the pain is inflammation of the nerve root and not merely compression of the nerve.

Stopping Migraine Headaches

Treating Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is linked to abdominal obesity by chronic inflammation. A combination of losing the fat and an anti-inflammatory diet, plus supplements, will reduce the inflammation.

Non-Surgical Ways of Opening Blocked Arteries

If the artery is completely blocked, then the answer is yes. In most cases the blockage is from 50 percent to 70 percent, and in that case there are non-surgical treatments that can be applied to reduce the risk of a stroke. An increase of magnesium is of the utmost importance.

Nutrients for Eye Health

While it is accepted that glaucoma is associated with a buildup of pressure within the eyes, newer research indicates that the actual damage to the retina is caused by inflammation/excitotoxic reactions within the retina itself. Medications can be used to lower the intraocular pressure, but protection of the retina requires the use of anti-inflammatories and blocking of the excitotoxic reaction.

Are Cell Phones Dangerous?

There is considerable evidence that cell phones damage the brain as well as other tissues and organs. Many studies have shown that the microwave radiation from cell phones damages tissues and especially DNA.

Relieving the Symptoms of Shingles

Shingles (herpes zoster) is caused by the reactivation of a dormant chickenpox virus, and affects a number of nerves in the face, chest, abdomen, or extremities. It is caused by a loss of immune function.
