Question: Can painkillers help prevent Alzheimer's?
Dr. Amen's Answer:
Nine out of 10 studies show that low doses of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (200 to 400 mg of ibuprofen) taken for two or more years in people under 80 years old reduced the chance of developing Alzheimer's by 50 percent.
Other studies found that low-dose aspirin reduced the risk by 33 to 50 percent.
