As we age we accumulate all sorts of damage to our skin. Some, like sun spots, are avoidable; and others, like seborrheic keratoses (noncancerous growths), are not. To treat these, I recommend liquid nitrogen, chemical peels, intense pulsed lights, or laser treatment.

Aging is the most common cause of nail lines and ridges. Chemotherapy or kidney disease may also cause lines or ridges, and trauma to the nail is another common culprit.

If a melanoma returns, it needs to be evaluated as soon as possible. If insurance is an issue, look into clinical trials or ask providers to discount their fees.
