Question: Is it true, that once you start testosterone replacement therapy, your body won’t produce it anymore?

Dr. Hibberd’s answer:
 
Yes, this is true. Supplementation with testosterone suppresses the body's synthesis of testosterone. This is accomplished by a feedback loop via the pituitary gland.
 
Discontinuation of supplementation does not always guarantee that your testosterone production will return, even though it usually does, just not right away. This is one good reason to avoid supplementation unless you have confirmed a deficiency in the production of testosterone.
