Question: I am on blood thinners. Is it OK to also take a painkiller for teeth pain?
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Blood thinners generally are not affected by narcotic painkillers used for dental pain. But the regular use of ibuprofen (Advil), aspirin or naproxen (Aleve) should be avoided when on blood thinners, because they can increase the risk of adverse reactions.
Even so, one or two doses won't have significant side effects in most patients, but I still counsel against their use unless prescribed intentionally by your primary physician.
