Question: I’ve used hair coloring products for years, but lately everything I try causes itching and blistering. Is there any way to treat this problem, or are there natural hair color products that I can use and not have these reactions?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Hair coloring products are not medicinal. Clearly you feel you need to color your hair, and but with your sensitivity, you are best to avoid these products.

Yes, there are natural hair coloring products that will probably suit you well, but without the benefit of observing your scalp to be sure you do not have a chronic inflammatory disorder, I am reluctant to recommend any without a dermatology consultation for a proper professional evaluation of your scalp.

You should ask a doctor to determine if your problems are due to an underlying chronic condition such as psoriasis that needs more specific management.
