Question: Is there a natural way to treat diabetes?

Dr. Hibberd’s answer:

Yes. Avoid obesity and inactivity, and eliminate high-calorie high fructose junk food and sugary soft drinks.

Regular exercise with small frequent meals is preferable to large less frequent ones. High-fiber diets are protective also. Avoid rich high-fat diets. Watch your medication and supplement use and consult your physician for guidance in preventing or at least delaying the onset of diabetes.

In the pre-insulin days, patients were placed on low-calorie diets and many diabetics had a very difficult time unless they literally starved themselves. It’s much easier now. There are plenty of options, from insulin replacement to oral agents that restore the sensitivity of insulin-resistant tissues, and that will normalize and support pancreatic production of insulin.

Aside from diet and exercise, all the effective medications for diabetes are prescription items, requiring a medical doctor’s prescription.
