Question: My doctors recommend that I reduce supplement usage to multivitamins only. They say that taking more supplements can result in liver problems. Do you have any suggestions?

There is no evidence that taking “more supplements” can cause liver problems, mainly
because that is like saying food can cause poor health without defining which foods. Many supplements, such as curcumin, quercetin, taurine, R-lipoic acid, ellagic acid, and N-acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) are used successfully to treat liver disorders, especially those due to viruses and toxins.
Curcumin, quercetin, and ellagic acid also have powerful anticancer effects, especially for leukemias. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and resveratrol have been found to have powerful inhibitory effects on leukemia and also protect the liver and other organs.
