Did you know that the number of diabetics in the United States has almost doubled in the past 10 years? And that about 25 percent of people who have diabetes don’t even know it?

According to figures recently released by the government, 90 percent of cases are Type-2 diabetes. All diabetics, especially the ones who are undiagnosed, are especially vulnerable to additional physical ailments including cardiovascular disease and neurological complications.

In addition to a healthy diet and exercise, certain specific supplements fight diabetes. To learn more about how to prevent and control diabetes, read my report "The Diabetes Solution."

One of the most powerful diabetes-fighting nutrients is alpha-lipoic acid. It exists in every cell and tissue and is very effective in lowering blood sugar and preventing diabetic complications — especially cardiovascular and neurological problems. It is one of the most versatile antioxidants in the body, and it also strengthens immunity, improves energy in cells, protects brain cells against excitotoxicity, and removes excess iron and other toxic metals.

A number of studies have shown that it can correct blood sugar in Type2 diabetics and improve or even eliminate the need for insulin in insulin-dependent diabetics. If sufferers still have some insulin cells left, alpha-lipoic acid can improve their function. (For more information on how alpha lipoic acid as well as other natural supplements can improve your health, read my newsletter "Extend Your Life: 4 Supplements That Will Help You Live Longer.")

Alpha lipoic acid will enable most insulin-dependent diabetics to control their blood sugar better with lower insulin requirements. The best results come when you control your diet and use other supplements as well.
